City of Las Vegas Municipal Courthouse
The City of Las Vegas Municipal Courthouse (LVMC) is a 4 story, 135,000 square foot courthouse that has seven courtrooms and six classrooms to serve the public. The courthouse is a collaboration between The Molasky Group of Companies and the City of Las Vegas. GRN Vision was brought on early to offer and assist in sustainability efforts. In July 2021, this vitally important public building earned the distinction of LEED Silver BD+C thanks to the collaboration of all discipline’s involved in the integrative process.
Strategy
GRN Vision collaborated with PGAL Architecture and Martin Harris Construction to guide, advise, and make recommendations during the LEED certification process.
Ensuring that the courthouse is built to run efficiently and will offer a healthy occupant space was a priority for everyone involved from the start. A commitment to sustainability is evident from the visible electric vehicle charging stations, low VOC interior selections, and individual LED lighting controls. The courthouse is steps away from the Bonneville Transit Center, a hub for public transportation, making this facility accessible to all those in need of its services. Recycling is fully embraced at this facility; all office waste and materials are recycled through a single stream program. The construction waste diversion rate was over 75% thanks to the city and construction management teams commitment.
Results
GRN Vision values being a part of working to improve and build a sustainable community for the City of Las Vegas. The LEED Silver courthouse will not only be efficient, but also accessible to the public. “This building is now the latest piece in a fully realized justice corridor in the heart of downtown.” Stated Mayor Carolyn Goodman
